SMK KORPRI Sumedang mulai berdiri pada tahun 1985 dengan nama awal STM (Sekolah Teknik Menengah) KORPRI Sumedang. Sekolah ini berada di bawah naungan Yayasan KORPRI Sumedang, didirikan berdasarkan pada Surat Keputusan pendirian dengan nomor 2851/102.1/R/85 tertanggal 7 Juni 1985. Kemudian mendapatkan ijin operasional dari Kanwil Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan berdasarkan pada Surat Keputusan dengan nomor 043/102/KEP/E/1987 tertanggal 30 Januari 1987. Pada tahun 2018 SMK KORPRI Sumedang mendapatkan akreditasi dari Badan Akreditasi Nasional Sekolah/Madrasah (BAN-SM) dengan raihan predikat A. Raihan akreditasi ini berdasarkan pada Surat Keputusan Badan Akreditasi Nasional Sekolah/Madrasah dengan Nomor 02.00/203/SK/BAN-SM/XII/2018 tertanggal 4 Desember 2018.
Mempersiapkan para lulusan untuk mengisi tenaga kerja yang profesional, beriman, bertaqwa, cerdas dan terampil mempunyai budaya tertib, bersih, memiliki etos kerja yang tinggi serta berjiwa wirausaha sebagai prasarat tenaga kerja baik masa sekarang maupun masa yang akan datang.
Dengan adanya budi pekerti, tiap-tiap manusia berdiri sebagai manusia merdeka (berperibadi), yang dapat memerintah atau menguasai diri sendiri. Inilah manusia beradab dan itulah maksud dan tujuan pendidikan dalam garis besarnya.
Pendidikan adalah senjata paling ampuh yang bisa kamu gunakan untuk mengubah dunia.
